Welcome to the webpages of Bob Mays, Labour Councillor

Bob Mays has represented Welwyn Garden City on Herts County Council since 1981; from 1973 to 76 he served as a member of the first Welwyn Hatfield District Council. Bob has been Leader of the Labour Group and Chaired many committees including Education and Finance. His children both attended Applecroft and Monks Walk Schools in Welwyn Garden City.

Local issues:

I am pleased to report that the County have now agreed to the building of small children's home next to Sir Frederic Osborn School. It will provide purpose built, short stay accommodation for four 'looked after' children between the ages of 5 and 11, plus staff involved in care duties and the management of the home. Biography:

Bob has worked in the Cabinet Office, the Treasury, Herts University and run a Computer Software Company. His education includes degrees in Psychology and Mathematics, and a Research Fellowship of Nuffield College, Oxford. He now writes satirical novels in his spare time, ‘The Wisdom Gene’ was published in 2003; ‘The Code of Arimathea’ and ‘Burning Gold’ are both In Press (see www.bobmays.com).
