Welcome to the webpages of Jane Pitman, Conservative Councillor

Jane and her husband have lived in Hertfordshire for 35 years. Now her grandchildren attend local schools. She has represented the Braughing Division since 1985 and being in the County Council's Cabinet is well placed to fight for and influence things that are important for her electorate.

Jane's special responsibility on the County Council is to support vulnerable families and ensure that children are kept safe from harm. She has succeeded in getting more investment than ever before to support the needs of children.

Jane recognises and supports the need for more housing to help alleviate the shortage of "affordable homes" for key workers and young couples starting out on the housing market, however she opposes the plans for the housing numbers being promoted for Hertfordshire by the East of England Regional Assembly. Jane comments that "20,000 extra houses in East Herts by 2021 will destroy for ever so much of what we value in this part of rural Hertfordshire. Already our existing roads, rails, health services and schools are struggling to keep up with the ever increasing demands put upon them."

Jane believes the additional Police Support Officers (PCSOs) being paid for by the County Council are already helping to reduce the fear of crime, an issue that is a major concern for local people.
