Welcome to the webpages of Leonard Spencer, Conservative Councillor
I have been elected in 2005 as County Councillor for the Chorleywood Division which comprises Sarratt, Langleybury and Chorleywood. Elected with over 50% of the total vote I have pledged to work hard for all the residents of this area.
Something about me.
I have lived in the area for nearly 30 years, and have been active in local affairs and in the Conservative Party since 1985. My working life has for the most part been as a senior partner in one of the large accountancy firms, and now I run my own successful financial businesses.
Until recently I was a keen rider, and follow all equestrian sport. My other main interest is in the Church; I am a member of the Conservative Christian Fellowship, which seeks to apply Christian principles in public life.
What I intend to achieve.
Residents can expect that I will work to ensure that they can get the maximum out of the County Council’s services. In the County Council’s committees I have opted to work in the area of Children, Schools and Families, with particular emphasis on schools.
In addition however, I will undertake projects which take those services that extra mile. For example, starting in the autumn of 2005 I have initiated a Road Safety Campaign with a particular emphasis on schools and children generally
How I will go about my work.
Since I was first elected as a District and Parish Councillor experience has taught me that nothing is achieved without the determination and energy to drive through what the community wants done. Talking to people, being involved with them and their problems are the key to getting a Councillor’s work done. You will find these key themes in all that I seek to do.
District and Parish Councils.
I am privileged to have been elected to represent Chorleywood East as a District Councillor and thereby I a remain closely involved with the issues that arise affecting that Council. All Parish Councils in my Division can call on my services at any time, and I will attend each Council from time to time and I would hope also when issues of particular importance arise.
Residents’ Associations.
As a Councillor I have regular discussions with all the area’s Residents’ Associations.
Police.
I maintain good relations with the Police, as law and order and the control of anti-social behaviour are major concerns to me and to all residents.
Surgeries.
Surgeries are held in a structured way regularly. Please contact the South West Herts Conservative Association and speak to Connie Lovell on 01923 771781. However, if you have an urgent problem or prefer an individual meeting please contact me direct to make arrangements, through one of many contact points listed below.
Working with the Members of Parliament for the area.
Most of my Division lies within the South west Herts Constituency where David Gauke MP is the Member of Parliament. A smaller part of the Division is in the constituency of Watford with Claire Ward MP the elected Member. I have a good relationship with both.
My main contact details are available by selecting the Contact details link below. Alternatively you can reach me at the South West Herts Conservative Association at 01923 771781, who will be able to find other councillors to assist you should I be away from my desk for a longer period of time.
