Welcome to the webpages of Nigel Bell, Labour Councillor

Personal Details

Nigel Bell is 46, divorced with two daughters aged 13 and 18, and has lived in West Watford for 20 years – since October 1986.

Professional Details

Nigel is a Civil Servant, working at the Department for Work and Pensions in Watford.

Political History

Nigel has represented Vicarage/Holywell Division in West Watford since May 2005.  He had previously been a Labour Borough Councillor on Watford Borough Council for the Holywell Ward from 2001 – 2003.

He has always taken a keen interest in Highways issues and has campaigned for the West Watford Relief Road and, more recently, the Tolpits Lane Link Road.  The issues of traffic congestion and parking have been increasingly amongst his concerns and casework.

Current Position

Nigel is on the Hertfordshire County Council Education Panel, and is a Governor of Westfield School where he has a daughter in year 9.

He is also the HCC Labour Group spokesman on Fire and Rescue and was very involved with the successful campaign to keep the full night-time cover at Watford Fire Station.

Much of Nigel’s casework and enquiries from residents concerns Social Services – which he finds time-consuming, but rewarding to follow a case through successfully.
