Ian Reay is the Deputy Executive Member for Environment, Planning and Waste at Herts County Council. He also has experience at the district level on planning as he served for six years as the Portfolio Holder for Planning and Regeneration at Dacorum Borough Council.  He is also currently a Member of Berkhamsted Town Council and a Member of the Chilterns Conservation Board. He also sits on the London Luton Airport Consultative Committee, representing Dacorum.

Ian took early retirement in 2005. Before retiring he worked in the public sector, for the Civil Aviation Authority and subsequently Royal Mail in London , mainly with analytical, and policy related, responsibilities.
