Paul V. Goggins, born 1 April 1924, educated St. Bede’s College, Manchester. Married, Eily, June 1949, one son Jeremy, 16 November 1959
Career:
Joined Ministry of Labour & National Service March 1941 and, after 44 years service in the same government department, albeit under several different titles, retired on 31 March 1985 as a Senior Principal
Award:
Appointed Papal Knight (of St. Gregory) 1996 in recognition of services to the Church and local politics in Hertfordshire.
Political Experience:
Joined SDP as Founder member January 1981.
Elected as Three Rivers District Councillor May 1986 and Herts County Councillor May 1989
Vice Chairman of County Council 1997-2000
Vice Chairman, Education Committee, 1993-97.
Chairman Community Services Committee, 1997-99
Member of SACRE since 1989 - Chairman from 1993 – current day
Currently, Chairman of Chess Education Forum and Leavesden Transport Panel, Lib Dem spokesman for Children’s Services, Resources
Vice Chairman of District Council 1987-88, Chairman 1988-89
Currently Pensioners’ Champion, Vice Chairman of Licensing Committee
